"Having visited the Princxess Royal ..."

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

(as a relative),

What could be improved

Having visited the Princxess Royal Hospital, Farnborough, several times over the past few months I have been very aware of the lack of anti-bacterial gel stations in the main entrance hall and elsewhere in the hospital. I believe that much of the infections being experienced in most of the hospitals in UK results from contact with visitors to the hospital. In order to reduce the amount of such infection I would have thought that there was great merit in having numerous antibacterial gel points established with prominent signs advising visitors and in-patients to utilise such gel in order to reduce the incidents of infection. Perhaps you could inform me of your policy regarding the provision of adequate antibacterial gel locations.

Gel stations are located correctly within the Trust

Walked around with members of the public to look at location of gel stations to ensure high profile.

Signage has been reviewed including the 3rd Year posters of the NPSA campaign. This includes posters highlighting the key elements of the hand hygiene policy for both staff and visitors.
