"Travel and paarking"

About: Heartlands Hospital

Anything else?

I attended Heartlands Hospital yesterday for a neck X-ray. I was surprised to be directed to this hospital as it is a 45-minute drive, whilst I live only 10 minutes' drive from Solihull Hospital. When I arrived it took me 15 minutes to find a parking space in a hugely overcrowded car park. However, when I finally found a space and entered the hospital, I was seen promptly and the staff were exemplary. My point is that if a decision was made to transfer services from Solihull to Heartlands, some thought should have been given to whether the parking at Heartlands would be adequate. The drive and the struggle to find a parking space proved quite exhausting. Probably more so as I am 75 years old.

Dear Joanharry

Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback and I completely understand how frustrating it must have been not being able to park at Heartlands. Looking at your feedback there could have been a number of reasons you were transferred to Heartlands for your X-ray but it's most likely to have been for clinical reasons as Heartlands has a major specialist X-ray unit. The need to transfer you should have been explained to you at the time so my apologies if this was not the case and I will certainly feed that back. Unfortunately the parking situation at all hospitals is a challenge but we do have plans to extend the car park at Heartlands in the not too distant future will I hope will help ease the congestion.

Best wishes

Simon
