"Recovery from Addiction"

About: Guernsey House

(as the patient),

I have been coming to Guernsey House for the last 4 years and I have got nothing at all to criticise they have been great. Everything has been at my own pace and they have always been there to answer questions.

I reduced my prescribed drugs down from 120 to 24, just going slowly and at my own pace and not being pushed too hard. They got me to understand where they were coming from and that I couldn't run before I could walk. Before I came I was really afraid that they might push me. The bottom line is its down to people but if you are pushed too hard they back off.

When I was first coming I missed 2 appointments and then I came and waited to see someone. The important thing was that they gave me that chance, if not for that I would have gone back to using. I am now waiting for detox and they have been talking to me about choices.

So all through I have felt involved and supported.

Thanks leo62 for taking the time to give your feedback about your experiences at Guernsey House - we read all the postings and they help us to shape our services in the future.

I am so pleased that you feel involved and supported in making these positive changes towards your recovery - have you thought about joining our SMART group? Ask your keyworker or at reception - it sounds like it could be just what you need now you have reduced so far.

Well done and all the best for the future.
