What I liked
My current consultant is excellent - v.helpful and friendly.
The pager system for the pharmacy is great as it means you don't have to stand in a queue for hours.
Nice new entrance.
What could be improved
Outpatient waiting times are unacceptable - I have never waited for less than an hour and it is usually closer to two hours. No apology or reason for the wait is ever offered.
Appointments are frequently cancelled or changed, sometimes without any letter being sent, meaning you don't find out until you get to the hospital, having taken time off work.
Admin procedures appear to be from the dark ages. I was told, after an appointment on a friday, that I couldn't book a follow-up appointment on a friday because my consultant only worked mondays! I had to spend ages arguing my case - and grab the consultant as he walked past - before the admin assistant would back down from their "computer says no" approach.
Lack of dignity: Instructions to provide urine samples are delivered in a loud voice in front of the rest of the waiting room. Simply providing a paper bag in which to put the test-tube in afterwards (instead of having to parade it in front of other patients) would make the situation less embarrassing. The toilet in endochrinology has a wide gap between the door and the wall, meaning people can see in.
The usual dirt.
