I have just spent the day at the day surgery unit. The care I received was fab. The nurses in the day surgery unit before I went for my surgery were very caring, respectful, kind and answered questions when I asked them (I have never had an operation before and was in a bit of a state) and they really put me at my ease. An anaesthetist came to see me and I went to pieces and she was very kind and understanding and explained exactly what she was going to do, including giving me a relaxant. i walked to theatre, said hello to everyone and had my relaxant. i remember going warm and floppy and then woke up afterwards. When I woke up, there was a nurse by me at all times. They were fab, kept my spirits up and fed me tea and toast, very welcome after a day of no food. I felt fine and was eventually sent home about 3.30. I have heard both terrible and fab things about Wexham but today it was fab. The surgeon did the business fabulously and it still doesn;t hurt! I was also admitted here to A&E last May and it was fab then as well. I can't remember much about it but i got loads of tests and scans and got there about 1.30 i think and left by 5 ish. I was referred and everything that followed has been fine. There are definintely worse hospitals to be in, And their maternity/obs/special care baby unit is second to none.
