"attended Moorfields with my partner ..."

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

(as a relative),

What I liked

attended Moorfields with my partner for an appointment at Neuro Opthalmology for 11.00 on 17th August. Was attended to very promptly my partner had an eye test was seen by an absolute charming consultant who explained as best he could in layman's terms the problems to my partner (his english is not too good) and to myself and arranged for further appointments and tests and suggested he have blood tests done at the lab at the hospital. We went to the lst floor Stellard Ward two phlebotomists were on duty one was taking blood the other escorting a patient to another floor - the department was not busy. I stayed outside in the waiting area whilst my partner had blood taken - he was asked are you finished here? He said finished what? Anyway he was calling my name for assistance when the rather stern phlebotomist said within earshot the mother is outside - what an undignified and unprofessional approach - assuming I was his mother - had it have been an older man and younger woman would this comment have been applied??

What could be improved

manners of staff and privacy of the patient which does not appear to be respected - I am talking about the more junior members of staff - cannot fault the consultants - but I do think doors should be closed when having eye tests and asking questions - patients do like a little privacy - and don't assume - check your facts if you are not sure.
