I ended up in A n E with haemoglobin 6 due to PV bleeding on the night of 21May 2013 midnight , Firstly , a doctor and male nurse , who was very kind and asked me some questions and straight away told me to lie down on bed and waited for the results and booked me for bed very quickly to MAU/AMU ward. When I was wheeled down to my ward Medical Assessment Unit for blood transfusion at 3.30AM , there was a young Nurse came to my bed , introduced herself to me, she was so kind and asked me if I need any thing, I told her. I was feeling dizzy , she asked me when did I eat last , I said about 12 hours ago , She made me a cup of tea and toast and I tell you how better I felt after that tea as I was waiting for blood to arrive. she was at night duty and I never get chance to thank her not only for the tea and toast she made at 4AM for me but she transfused my first blood bag very slow and kept an eye on me until my blood finished. When I got discharged , there were no discharge notes for me to take to my GP or for my work while I stay for two days in hospital from Gynaecologist. A nurse was concerned about my Hgb level after blood transfusion because I was constantly loosing blood but Gynae department was not bothered at all. I had air bubbles in my intravenous transfusion tube while I was having third unit of blood. The Nurse on duty was not good and mostly patients were having difficulty to talk to her as she was rude. There was a male support worker who offered me body wash on bed , that I refused straight away , also he has given an old female patient a body wash next to me , that was shocking for me. It has gone so out of control that one patient lost her mind and she was walking stark naked in the ward then that male support worker helped her to get her hospital gown on . It was very scary experience to witness. Night staff used to wake patients up after 4.30AM for observations with all the lights on. It was like a boot camp. My experience taught me, not all the NHS staff are bad , some are extremely nice and have passions for their jobs while some of them are there only to pay their bills.
