I am disgusted by the arrogance of a doctor in maternity. Refusing to change a birth plan, laughing at patients and looking down at them. A midwife also on the Katherine ward shouting and raising voices at patients. Disgusting avoid this hospital.

I am very saddened to know that you were unhappy with your experience of the Maternity Unit, and assure you that the team would never wish any mother to be left feeling as though her needs and wishes were dismissed. The members of staff involved are very sorry they were perceived in such a way. As a Trust we take issues of poor communication and poor attitude on the part of the staff very seriously, and we have recently launched an initiative called CARES, which represents the Trust’s core values, and the behaviours expected and required of all our staff. Staff are encouraged to use these standards in all their contacts with patients and colleagues through their annual appraisals, and the standards will be key elements in recruitment of new staff, with the aim of ensuring the highest standard of behaviour from all our staff.
