"I went to the Brompton after having ..."

About: Royal Brompton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I went to the Brompton after having had two minor heart-attacks. I was transported from North Devon to London as soon as there was a place for me. I did not realise how ill I was, but I had no worries about my future because I had every faith in the Brompton, and it lived up to all myexpectations. Unfortunately, after my operation my lungs did not re-inflate properly and I had to stay for a week in the ICU. I am well and 100% better than I have been for the 10 years. Thank you all so very much for saving my life.

What could be improved

The week in ICU was not fun (I know it's not meant to be), but the very competent nursing staff in ICU seem to only be used to looking after unconscience patients. I was awake for most of the week, day and night, and although there was a nurse by my bed 24 hours a day, there was very little social communication between the staff and myself. This, I think, could be looked into.

Once again, thank you all very much.
