"A very overwhelming experience!"

About: Ipswich Hospital

Anything else?

I arrived at the Martlesham ward on 9th May 2013 at 7am. I was admitted by 7.10am, the surgeon and anesthetist had been by 8.10am and I was taken down to theatre at 8.30am. After being admitted for a long awaited spinal fusion at L5/S1 (ALIF) I was nervous to say the least! During my stay I found 99% of the ward staff to be very focused and tended to me very efficiently. After a brief issue with sorting the correct pain relief I found the nurses worked well together and there main aim was to make the stay as comfortable as possible. I found that the food wasn't the best but was always hot and well presented. On Saturday the surgeon came to check progress and was more than happy to answer my questions and wasn't rushed at all which was very pleasant. On Sunday I was discharged and once again the staff went out of there way to make sure I had everything I needed. All in all I would like to thank all of the staff on martlesham for making my stay as comfortable as possible and also the Spinal Surgeon for carrying out my ALIF and giving me a new lease of life!
