"Switchboard!"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

The switchboard are a disgrace to the hospital. They are rude, ignorant and transfer you through to departments before you have even finished explaining why you are calling. They never tell you who they are putting you through to. I hate calling them, and am infuriated by the way I am spoken to, like I'm the idiot because I dont know which dept I need, well unless they hadnt realised it, that is their job!!

I’m sorry to hear about your experience of the Switchboard operator, which I agree is not acceptable. The operators take a huge volume of calls every hour and try to transfer each call as quickly as possible to avoid others from waiting, but this should not be at the expense of providing an efficient and helpful service. There is no excuse for rudeness and I will speak to the team about your experience; thank you very much for bringing this to my attention, which I can now flag up as an area requiring improvement.
