"Disgusted"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

Anything else?

My Mother was taken to A/E with a suspected minor stroke. she is 85. She was eventually placed on an assessment ward. This was on Sunday, you can imagine my dismay when on Monday at 3.30pm she was discharged. I received a phone call to say she was outside the building waiting to be picked up. I arrived and couldn't believe my eyes, she could hardly stand up and couldn't speak very well. I took her home. Next day I received a phone call, she had had another minor stroke, even the Paramedic couldn't believe she had been discharged..Placed in A/E yet again to go through the whole process yet again!, my Mother was waiting for a bed which she had only vacated the day before for 10 hours she is 85.In the 10 hours I waited with her I couldn't get any answers I had to go to the shop to just get her something to eat and drink because I couldn't get anything from anywhere else. she was eventually put on a drip because she was so deydrated. There are that many different nurses? porters? Doctors? hanging around but no one helps you.. My Mother is now on a ward, but for how long, your guess is as good as mine.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments Jane. I would very much like to look in to the care that your mother has received and discuss any concerns you have about your mother if she is still here with us. Could you please contact me directly on 0116 258 5888 or carole.ribbins@uhl-tr.nhs.uk Carole Ribbins Director of Nursing
