"X-ray results"

Dear Anonymous – thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you were dissatisfied with the x-ray service at Cossham Hospital. I would like to assure you that all North Bristol Trust hospitals conform to very strict protocols concerning the reporting of x-ray results. To explain, after an initial review, x-rays are available to the clinician who has requested the images shortly after they have been taken; usually via an electronic system. The initial review will then be checked by a specialist radiologist in the particular field in question, depending on the assessed urgency. Consequently any x-rays that suggest urgent action are dealt with immediately. Then according to on clinical significance the remaining less urgent x-rays are reviewed. It is only after a specialist review that x-ray results are formally notified. Regrettably this does mean that on occasions, when the service is very busy, a delay in reporting less urgent x-rays may sometime occur. I can therefore assure you that no patient would be left to die while their x-ray was reported. I am sorry that you found the wait for your x-ray result to be notified so frustrating, and I hope I have explained the reason why sometimes a delay can occur.
