I was flown from Skye due to bad weather in mid December 2012 and admitted to ICU where I stayed in a coma for just under three weeks. My heart kept stopping and my sole kidney failed due to sepsis. My family were told to prepare for the worst, but due to the wisdom and care of the doctors, I survived. I cannot thank the team enough.
My wife stayed with me throughout, but the ICU team made her feel welcome and kept her informed throughout.
I was then transfered to HDU where I was cared for until I was well enough to go to Ward 1.
It was during my stay in Ward 1 where I came round properly, and I must say the attention of the Doctors and Nurses and Auxiliaries were 1st Class. I'm so glad it was Paisley I ended up going to as I could not have been treated better anywhere in Britain, thank you, everyone involved.
I haven't forgotten you, not one of you and I promise to send you that parcel I spoke about.
Special mentions to Dr Carey, Dr Perry, and auxs Peter and Angela on Ward 1, but you were all fantastic.
"I contracted sepsis and kidney failure and heart failure ."
