Anything else?
I have been to the A&E here a few years ago. I came in with a broken wrist and was treated very quickly after having been triaged. However, my brother went there a few weeks ago after a judo accident.
He arrived at about 9pm, and had to wait, oh about 2-3 hours before even seeing triage. After he'd been to triage, the whiteboard said 7 hours from triage to treatment. The real time was about 3-4hours. The treatment needed wasn't huge- disinfection, binding up, and a bit of advice on changing the bandages. I'll admit, it wasn't a huge priority case, but despite eventually being given iodine to soak his foot in, the wound became infected.
The other day he had a minor surgery on it at the local GP, and he is on the mend. But the treatment he needed wasn't 7 hours' worth. He finally got home at 3-4 am. I wasn't with him, but I was shocked. I understand A&E is busy, but how much would it have taken to bandage his toe, tell him how to change it, and tell him to see the GP later for a check-up? I was more than a little miffed with that.
"Generally good, but long and unnecessary waits."
