What could be improved

This hospital always seems grubby and the food is not what you would like to try and encourage someone to eat and get better or stay heathy!

Ward staff seem overstretched and disinterested, the ward was very hot and noisey and not conducive to rest. Discharge information was incorrect and resulted in lots of dressings and antibiotics at the GPs.

You may be reassured to know that our hygiene procedures have been recently reviewed by the independent NHS watchdog the Healthcare Commission, who concluded that the trust is doing all it can to reduce the risk of infection.

In a recent inpatient survey, carried out on behalf of the Healthcare Commission, the majority rated the quality of our food highly. However we understand from your comment that your experience did not reflect this.

You may be interested to know that we are currently reviewing all matters relating to discharging patients. To help with this we are using information gathered from the inpatients survey and the experiences of the 200 recently-discharged patients who we survey ourselves each month. We hope this will help us to resolve some of the issues surrounding discharge of our patients.

You do not specify when you visited and in which wards. This information would be useful to us in order that we could investigate more thoroughly.
