"The morning shift nurses were ..."

About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The morning shift nurses were great and explained everything clearly. the surgical staff was excellent. I am very pleased with the care I have received from my consultant. His surgical nurses were professional and went out of their way to make me feel more comfortable before the procedure.

What could be improved

I was not terribly impressed with the after-care I received following my (day) surgery. The nurses were not readily accessible whilst I was recovering on the ward prior to going home and did not provide me with all of the information I needed with regards to following-up with my GP, etc. Nor did they take into consideration that my surgery ended up being more intensive than was expected, so I was not provided with better pain meds or the additional information regarding what to expect during recovery. I felt a bit alone during the hours before I went home....

Thank you for your comments about Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. These are very useful to us in looking at how we can improve patient care.

We are pleased that you found many aspects of your care excellent. We are currently reviewing all matters relating to how we help patients move from hospital back home or into other care environments - what we call our discharge policy. We recently held a multi-agency event at Frimley to examine how we and our health care partners can make this a better experience for patients.
