"Total incompitence of goverment organisation"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

Anything else?

I visited the A&E childrens department last night with my son who had a minor injury and while we were treated very well when there, its what transpired afterwards that has left me very upset!

My son attends a day nursery because I work full time and I took the medication in that was prescribed. Because the JR did not write his name on the bottle the nursery cannot give my son the medicine - This is the law apparently with childcare. So I spend half of my working day speking to nursery, JR, and GP before being told that nobody can do anything for me. The JR did not send notification of the medicine prescribed over to the GP so they cannot give label, the JR cannot help as the doctors are apparently the only ones who can look in my son's notes!. Even my GP's receptionist tried to ring the hospital for me to help and still the JR cannot provide anything to them. The long and short of this is that now I have to leave work every lunch time to go a give my son his medicine. Tomorrow I am working in London - not quite sure how this will happen. This in my opinion is why the health service and other goverment organistaions are in the mess they are in. I work in the private sector for a large corporation and we would never get away with service like this.

Thank you for posting details of your recent experience at the John Radcliffe Hospital. We are pleased you were happy with the treatment your son received at our minor injuries unit and hope that he is continuing to progress well.

However, we were sorry to learn of your experience regarding your son’s prescription and the difficulties you experienced trying to resolve this. On review of the attendances we are unable to ascertain who your son is. My name is Louise Rawlinson (Matron). I wonder if you would be kind enough to let me have his name and date of birth so I can investigate this further? My details are Louise.Rawlinson@ouh.nhs.uk direct line: 01865 220220 or bleep 1270 via switch, alternatively I am happy to contact you.
