"Waiting time between operations"

About: Leighton Hospital

Anything else?

I attended the eye clinic for cataract surgery in late February 2013, some 3.5 months after I was referred to the clinic but only following intervention from my family GP, who I think managed to get me in on a cancellation. After the first operation I was told I would now go back onto the ordinary waiting list to have the 2nd operation (my other eye). It has been over 2 months now and I still haven't heard anything. My job involves driving long distances and foreign travel, which I haven't been able to do since October 2012. I mentioned this on my follow up visit but the consultant just laughed and made some sarcastic comment about the NHS not being responsible for my workload. I've been off work since last October and my company is now looking into ways to dismiss me due to the time it has taken to get this sorted out.

It's a real shame that the long and seemingly unfair waiting lists should spoil what is a fantastic modern and professionally run facility.
