About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

Referred by GP to "TRAQs" for urgent appraisal.

TRAQS only open Monday-Thursday so not appropriate for anything 'urgent'.

TRAQS hasn't even entered details on to system some 30 hours later and had it not been for my complaint I doubt I would have heard within 5 days.

GP excellent. Shame they are forced to use TRAQs.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback to the TRAQS team.

TRAQS are changing their opening hours as of 3rd June following feedback received. The new hours are 08.30 - 18.00 Monday to Friday (except for Bank Holidays).

Once a patient has been identified by their GP as requiring further care the practice have to complete 3 steps to ensure that TRAQS is aware of the patient's referral. If the referral is urgent TRAQS aims to process the referral within 1 working day and contact the patient as soon as possible We do ask that patients provide up to date contact details otherwise TRAQS is unable to contact the patient promptly which delays the patient's referral.

Some specialities are assessed within TRAQS by GPs who review the referral to see if the patient is suitable to be seen at a private hospital under the NHS or by a Community clinic both of which are often sooner than waiting for an appointment at a local hospital whose waiting lists are very long for specific specialities.

TRAQS was developed at the request of local GPs to ensure that Patients are offered a Choice of Provider in accordance with the NHS Constitution.
