"My stay in October 2012"

About: Tameside General Hospital

Anything else?

I underwent bowel cancer surgery by the doctor in October 2012. I stayed in Tameside for 10 days and want everyone to know about the excellent service and support provided by my surgeon and all the staff. The only downside is there were not enough nurses on the surgical ward, especially at night. The nurses were constantly on the go, especially with the number of sick patients who had had major surgery. I have utmost respect for everyone and the treatment I received. A total credit and a huge thank you to My surgeon, I owe my life to him. Thank you and keep up the good work.

I also received excellent care whilst on the elective unit in July 2011.

Keep up the great service

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience of your surgical care at Tameside General Hospital both in July 2012 and more recently, in October 2012.

I am delighted that you had a positive experience and of course I will ensure that the teams are made aware of your comments.

The skill mix and number of nurses on duty has been reviewed and I can assure you that this is monitored on a daily basis by the Ward Managers, Matrons and Divisional Head of Nursing, Safety and Quality. I will ensure they are aware of your comment.

Once again thank you for posting your feedback on the NHS Choices website.

Kind regards

John Goodenough

Director of Nursing

‘’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved?
