My husband became ill on Sunday and by the evening was quite unwell. Unsure what to do I rang our GP's surgery for an out of hours number. I was told to ring 111 and when I did I was advised to take my husband to the nearest A&E. I took him to St. James and within minutes he was wired up to an ECG machine, and he was found not to be having a heart attack. We were then talked through what would happen next and the staff handled everything with calm effiency even though there were patients who would try the patience of a saint. Blood tests were taken and when we saw the doctor he ordered a chest x-ray. When all the results were ready my husband was told that he would need to be admitted to a ward for treatment.

I would like to pass on my thanks to all concerned and commend everybody on their sterling work.

I think the public do the A&E services an injustice as they do any amazing job.
