"I think there should be Mixed sex Wards"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Parkwood inpatient unit

(as the patient),

Promote safety and better care on the ward.  I think there should be more staff on the wards who know what’s going on – not enough staff on the wards. In my opinion there should be mixed wards like Lancaster, which I found happier and livelier because it’s so male dominated here. A mixture calms everyone down and lifts spirits.

Many thanks for your postings. I have passed this onto the staff at Parkwood who will reply in more detail once they have had more time to consider your comments.

Thank you for your comments and your observations about the differences between mixed and single sexed wards. I agree with your comments regards the advantage of a mixed sex environment but unfortunately we are unable to provide this service in Blackpool due to the nature of the building.

With regards your comment about the staffing, I agree that it is very important for all staff to be aware of what is going on with the patients on the ward and we are constantly seeking to improve the way we manage this.
