"My experience with the William ..."

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

(as the patient),

What I liked

My experience with the William Harvey started when I went to the emergency treatment centre at Buckland hospital on 7th Jan. 08. I had been experiencing severe nose bleeds every few hours for 2 days. I was examined almost immediately at Buckland and they contacted William Harvey ENT department for treatment advice. Buckland were advised to send me to the Rotary ward at William Harvey Hospital as soon as possible. Ambulance transport was arranged within 15 minutes and on admission to the Rotary ward I was seen by the ENT doctor within 30 minutes of arrival at the Hospital. My nose bleed was treated by being cauterised and I was sent home with instructions to rest and contact them again if further bleeding was experienced. Unfortunately the bleeding did start again and we contacted the Rotary ward the following morning. They instructed me to return to the Rotary ward and within 30 minutes of arrival I was examined and treated again by the on duty ENT Consultant. I was then admitted onto the Rotary ward for observation so that any further problems could be dealt with immediately. Fortunately no further bleeding occurred and I was discharged by the ENT Consultant the following morning. During this whole experience I found the Consultant, Doctors, nursing staff and administrators very caring and highly professional. I doubt if the care or treatment I received during this experience could have been bettered at any other NHS or private facility. If this experience is representative of the NHS then I can not understand how they could be criticised. In conclusion thank you to all the medical and administration staff at the William Harvey hospital Rotary Ward.

regards
