My waters broke at home in the middle of the night with no contractions, being a first time mum i immediately called hospital as my mind went blank. I was instantly reassured and put at ease. They were calm and understanding and explained clearly what i should do.
I wasn't due to go to hospital until 10pm but my contractions started getting closer and as i lived so far away they advised i went down.
My only little niggle was lack of pain relief but this was no way the downstairs staffs fault, they were waiting for a dr to sign me off for some peth but the poor dr kept being called into theatre. The staff did loan me a tens machine and encouraged my partner to support me using breathing techniques.
I did feel a little abandoned and that i was being dramatic until a wonderful midwife came to check on me and the shock when she told me i was 9cm (in less then 4 hours of arriving)and bless her she soon pulled my bed upstairs and in the lift and was delivering my baby before i could catch breath.
One member of staff was amazing!! She took fabulous care of all 3 of us. She was fun and very professional. She supported us tremendously during and after giving birth.
She even shared our jaffa cake celebration. :)
She is a massive credit to your team.
Thank you to all you lovely ladies :) our little bonfire night baby is now almost 6 months and thriving
"Wonderful birth experience :) well done ladies :)"
