My elderly uncle was admitted to the medical assessment unit with stomach pains and suspected gall bladder problems, He turned out to be very ill, with a soft stone blocking his bile duct causing seepage into his blood-stream. Staff at Q.E. were quick to assess his health on admission and arrange appropriate scans and courses of treatment. He was sent to ward 27 where his condition was closely monitored. He was kept informed about his condition and treatments at all times, he knew staff were working to get his blood right and once that was achieved the infected gall bladder had to be removed. The ward was clean and all the doctors and nurses we met were highly professional and caring, and fun at many times (just what we needed). They explained what was happening in understandable terms without being patronising . He is now at home recovering and enormously grateful for the superb care he received. Apparently hospital catering is better than mine!. Thank you NHS, thank you Q.E. and thank you wards 3: 9: and especially 27. You were wonderful.
