I have attended the glaucoma unit in H block at Royal Bolton Hospital today and I was very impressed with the way that the staff dealt with me. I am a queasy patient and I was listened to and then responded to in a way that allayed my fears. I felt the examination was thorough and I trusted the doctor and other staff who saw me.

I do not think Royal Bolton Hospital as a site is very reassuring but once I was in the clinic I was totally reassured by the staff and as far as I am concerned on the evidence of this visit they deserve their reputation as one of the best eye units in England. I want to be proud of my local NHS hospital and Royal Bolton does not get very good press and I suspect it does have problems but I would definitely recommend people to use the eye unit.
