Our daughter of 2 and a half was unwell at Home, she got worse through the day and was very quiet, we then noticed a rash that seemed to not completely clear under a glass. Phoned nhs direct a they sent an emergency doctor out straight away, the doctor was great and not overly worried but recommended we took our daughter down in an ambulance ASAP .

We were seen fairly quickly in A&E , the doctors took blood and it returned flagged as a very high infection level, they did not seem to worried about the spots but did not ever rule our Meningitus, they asked us to stay in and begin antibiotics immediately, by the next morning she was much better and we stayed in for another day and night and then returned for two more days t finish the antibiotics.

Ultimately the hospital made her well and quickly which was fantastic and for that we are are very grateful . My negative comments would be that firstly the tag on her leg said Izabel but had completely the wrong details of date of birth etc on, I pointed this out and it was not changed during the three days. There was quite a lot of doctor speak during the visits from the doctor and it was not clear to us what she had and what she was being treated for ( I understand that it's possible they don't know themselves).

The two days we were asked to return for her antibiotics we were given an appointment time both days in the day care unit, both days we waited 3 hours for her to be seen, we were the only ones there, it's not that nobody cared but just didn't seem to be anyone available to help her, 3 hours on your own with an unwell toddler is tricky.

In summary we were delighted with how we were treated, the final outcome was great but some of the administration let it down. It is possible that our daughter had a different child's details on her tag and could this have lead to her being given the wrong treatment or medication.
