"A and e with daughter"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

Anything else?

I visited a and e early hours with my daughter who had hurt her foot on a play area in the morning , a very short wait and efficient staff , the first nurse we saw came across as rude and made comments about the amount of time I had left it before coming in to a and e , I know my daughter very well and she likes a trip to the hospital !! She had pain killers which the nurse lead me to believe I was giving her to many , but on checking when I got homethe dose was safe and correct , my daughter has been up a and e nine times in 13 years , only once having a fracture on her arm when she fell of the climbing frame at the park , what are we as parents supposed to do , when your child is telling you they are in pain you take them to the hospital she is very active , bikes scooters trampaline etc of cause these result in bumps sometimes but I was worried about bringing her because on her last vist comments were made all be in in jest about how many times she had been there ! And a print out giving to me to prove it , and last night I was asked if social services had ever been involved with our family , no they have not because they would never be a reason for them to be involved , I was made to feel I had done something wrong and judged Our family don't tap hands or smack bums I have been so upset today and after talking to family and friends feel I had to wright something down I understand the need for child protection but just because you may be overly worried about your child doesn't mean you should be made to feel guilty when you seek medical help , advice from last night was pain killers and rest which is just what we were doing , maybe this summer we should all stay indoors so not to rick any ijurys !

I am sorry to hear about your experience at A&E. Sometimes we have to ask difficult questions to make sure children are kept safe and well and we are sorry if this has caused offence.
