I hurt my left leg quite badly on Sunday afternoon and paid a visit to K & C minor injuries unit early on Monday morning.
Within just a few minutes of arriving, Philip (charge nurse) had come out to say hello and to get a brief understanding of what I'd done. He promised I'd be seen very soon. Within just a few minutes, I was called through and Philip inspected my leg in detail. He explained exactly what he was going to do and why and at every point was incredibly calm and polite and made sure I understood everything.
I was given both a tetanus injection and some antibiotics (not a prescription, but the actual drugs - I was very surprised at this) due to the wound I'd suffered.
The whole episode took about 30 minutes from arrival to walking out the door again. In a news hungry world where all we seem to hear about are the bad news stories, I wanted to just take a few minutes to say well done and thank you to Philip in particular, but also to all the staff involved in my care on Monday.
