What I liked
my father in law was admitted to SGH after a routine endoscopy, he hadn't been feeling well for a while, 3 weeks later he died, post mortem was inconclusive, at no point would I say the staff not caring and dedicated to his care, however, it must be said that for the doctor to tell my mother-in-law he probably wouldn't come out of hospital when she was on her own was a little insensitive.
The HDU was immaculate and nurses attentive if a little cagey when asked questions. But generally the nursing staff were very polite and efficient if a little understaffed.
What could be improved
Employ more nurses, offer nursing qualifications to those who want it, i.e. HCA's who would love the opportunity but because they can't afford to give up work to go to university do not consider it as an option, what ever happened to the days of starting as an HCA and working your way up to Nursing, whilst still being paid. Universities are all very well but don't teach the practical skills needed.
