"Minor injuries unit"

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

Anything else?

I attended the minor injuries unit after breaking my toe. I was seen by a nurse within 15 minutes of arriving, and after that initial assessment I was immediately seen by the senior nurse. Both gentlemen were kind, thorough and helpful. They helped me with treatment options, and with discussing what to expect with the healing process. Their efficiency, thoroughness and knowledge were great, and I am very grateful. Thank you very much. Had I needed an X-Ray (I did not) this was easy for the nurse to refer me to there and then (after a short wait). I would certainly advocate use of the minor injuries unit where A&E can be avoided.

The only minor criticism I have is that while I was booking in the receptionist (who was lovely with me) had a number of queries from visitors looking for departments and clinics. She was fairly surly with them, which I imagine is a result of there not being other receptionists to ask and it interrupting her work, but I felt her responses to those people bordered on rude. People visiting an unfamiliar and very large hospital are likely to lose their way, and I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for directions (even if to someone working there the answer is obvious). But this is a small point and did not affect me directly.
