"I was a patient in the Cardio ..."

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was a patient in the Cardio ward (F1) in August last year after a heart attack and consequent angioplasty (stents). I found the wards and toilets very clean and all the staff very friendly and caring. I may be comparing it to one particular Devon hospital my poor mother attended but by comparison QA was in good order. The food was also fine - you don't expect cordon bleu do you?

What could be improved

1/ Waiting time for prescriptions on leaving. Why do you have to wait around downstairs for so long after discharge?

2/ Subsequent waits to see consultant on an 'emergency' basis because of continuing chest pains - may be better to get yourself admitted again as a quicker route but it doesn't seem a good financial case!

Thank you very much for your comment. We are working on a solution to speed up the availability of prescriptions for patients to take home.
