"Cannot get an appointment"

After having an appointment in october 2012 to have my prostrate examined at the Paul Sykes clinic at St James Hospital, I was told to make an appointment 6 months later, which I found out this should have been in febuary . I rang up today April 15 and was told there was a backlog and a long waiting list and they could not give an appointment in the forseeable future this is very distressing.Could you please advise me what to do.
