About: Wexham Park Hospital

Anything else?

After collapsing at home during the Easter bank Holliday, I was taken by my partner with great trepidation to WP Hospital with all of the symptoms of internal bleeding on the bank holiday Sunday

The receptionist at A&E was quick to spot this and I was sent to a crowder waiting area where my blood pressure and pulse (130 resting) was taken...... I was told the a blood test would be carried out and then......... Nothing. During the next hour, I was asked three times what my symptoms were. Feeling pretty ill, we asked if anything was happening to be told that we would have to wait at least three hours before anyone could even think about seeing me. I explained that I had passed out twice and that my symptoms were that I was bleeding internally. The staff appeared quite indignant and seemed to resent my comments.

I began to feel seriously uncomfortable and sleepy. Eventually as no one was interested in my condition, I discharged myself from the hospital and went home to bed......I made an appointment with a private GP and a blood test and £500.00 later I was diagnosed with a suspected perforated ulcer and referred immediately to a specialist. I had lost over 40 % of my bodies blood and was on the verge of requiring a transfusion. I feel that the staffing levels, treatment and lack of care is lacking at WP Hospital and as a result could easily have ended up as another sad statistic.

When will the NHS wake up.

So what happens now? ........... I think I know........same as the treatment and care received that I have been paying for over a 40 year period........ Nothing!
