Anything else?
I gave birth on 23/03/2013 at St Mary's birth centre. The LRI and general were closed (LRI was where I planned to give birth) I was directed to St Mary's birth centre, at first I was reluctant to go due to the distance from my home and having never been, but it was a blessing I went there and the staff were faultless. I had a water birth which I wouldn't have got at LRI and my midwife guided me and encouraged me to stay on the ward after birth. She and another midwife delivered my baby safely into this world (for which I cannot thank them enough) and the stay on the ward afterwards was amazing. The staff have time and genuinely want to help - and they did. They showed me how to breast feed properly, bathe, change, nurse my baby and I went home when I felt ready I wasn't told to go and was given 24/7 care whenever I needed anything. The staff here are a credit to the NHS and do not get the credit they truly deserve. I have recommended the ward to friends and family and feel if the ward was to close it would be devastating to mums to be and the personal, attentive, humbling care the staff here give which you would not get at LRI or the general in my opinion. If or one would chose to give birth here again, should I have another baby.
