"Long wait for medication and food"

About: Heartlands Hospital / General medicine

(as a relative),

Just visiting my mother in Heartlands Hospital and she's telling me that she wasn't given her diabetic medication purely because she had to wait for a doctor.

Even when she saw a doctor after 5 hours at around about midnight, they still did not give her meds, (meaning she went 16 hours longer than she should have without any diabetic meds).

With all this talk of a woman who died when Staffordshire Hospital failed to give diabetic medication to her, I'd have thought hospitals would be mindful of situations like that. She also told me the hospital didn't feed her either, from 7pm of a night until 10am the following morning. I think this type of care is disgraceful.

Dear scg1987,

I am very sorry that your mother has had this experience. I would be grateful for the opportunity to talk to you so that I can carry out appropriate investigations into the delays in medication and lack of food.

With kind regards

Emma Talla
