"Missed Miscarriage "

About: Borders General Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was admitted late on to Ward 16 at Borders General Hospital on the in early April for excessive bleeding, due to a missed miscarriage. I had discovered that the fetus had stopped growing at 6. 4 weeks but this only came to light at my 12 week scan on the Monday. The night staff were excellent, both nurses and the Doctor who came to see me.

The next day I waited for another scan before starting the “Medical” course of treatment. Again I was extremely well looked after both physically and mentally by all the Ward 16 staff and Pre Pregnancy Assessment staff. A special thanks to the Gynaecologist Doctor, (if that is the right term), who spent some time in the morning explaining how this situation can occur.

Although, I don’t wish this experience on anyone, both my husband and I felt supported and cared for throughout the experience at Borders General Hospital.

Thank you and hopefully one day I will meet you again in happier circumstances.
