"Far too many questions for non emergency"

About: NHS 111

(as the patient),

I was looking for quick medical advice and definitely did not require 999. That’s why I called 111.

The amount of questions left me infuriated beyond compare. I was en route to the gym and they insisted I had to give the postcode of where I was. It was a medical non emergency and 4 minutes is a very long time.

Thank you for posting your experience with NHS111.

A patients location is key to being able to support further care that may be needed at the end of the consultation. This may incude advice to attend a local Urgent Care Centre or hospital. This information is provided from an electronic Directory of Service and is dependent upon a patients current location.

The questions are designed to exclude immediate life threatening emergencies. It is important that these are asked as, on occasion, patients do not recognise symptoms that may be detrimental to their health that require immediate support. Most consultations take approximately 7 minutes and at the end of the assessment advice will be provided on how to manage your symptoms at home or you will be advised to attend for a face to face assessment.

I hope this background to the processes involved within NHS111 are helpful.
