"Disappointed in maternity service"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I'm 4 months pregnant and still waiting to be contacted by a midwife who apparently will provide me with some professional care.

I had to have my 12-week test privately because they postponed it until almost week 15 (too late! ). The reason for pushing it forward was that the baby was sleeping. My relatives couldn't believe that they didn't give me anything sweet to awake the fetus, apparently something perfectly normal to do in these situations.

When I went to my first and only meeting with a midwife to book my place in the hospital (this was more than a month ago), she told me I would receive a call from my named midwife very shortly. Over a month later I haven't heard from anyone.

Plus I have been away from work because of anxiety issues (I'm on antidepressants) and no special care has been put in place. Really really disappointed, spending a fortune in private healthcare. I just need to know what's going on. Will I ever see a midwife? Will my pregnancy ever be properly monitored?

I feel absolutely ignored by the public health system, despite all taxes I pay monthly.
