Anything else?
My present bout of ill heath began 5th July, 2011 with intense pain in my right groin.
I visited my GP who immediately referred me to RBH where I was seen by a Consultant who arranged for blood tests, x rays, scans etc. After one scan the Consultant telephoned me personally to reassure me that the scan had not shown up any "nasty lumps!" I thought that was really thoughtful of him and I did find it very reassuring.
After several appointments to discover the cause of my pains which had now spread to the joints in both sides of my groin, my shoulders, hands/wrists and both knees. The Consultant called in another man.
They agreed the cause might be rheumatic in origin and admitted me overnight for more blood tests.
Eventually it was determined Polymyalgia Rheumatica was the problem and I was referred to another consultant in that field on 5th September 2011.
My problems are still ongoing (but not as severe as in the beginning) but the treatment I have received from my GP, Consultants, nurses in fact all through my journey at every level I have been treated with the utmost care, consideration and good humour and speed, where possible.
In my and my family's opinion our Hospital and Health service is wonderful and I don't think it could have been bettered had I been in private health care.
There have been reports of constant criticism recently and I feel it is only right to tell the other side of the story.
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been involved in my care.
Francis Keith Banks.
