"My dad with COPD"

About: Poole General Hospital

(as a relative),

My dad has been cared for on ward A4 Arne ward Poole Hospital.. he had COPD ending stages and I would like to say how wonderful all the nurses were there was no option of survival for dad and they did everything they could to make us feel comfortable not just physically with bedding, hot drinks etc but also with what happening with dad.

prior to this is a different story I almost feel bad saying it but a week before he died (today) he was sent home, something I still don't understand, came home approx 5pm I had been waiting all day for him to come home at one point was asked if I could pick him up which is laughable as he cant walk unaided let alone get upstairs on his own. on return to hospital (less than 12 hours) the nurses were not surprised, they were expecting him got warm welcome but my point is he shouldn't been sent home. In my opinion the nurses were the carers and doctors seemed to know nothing about my father's care.

My feedback needs to be positive because they certainly looked after him in the end, but why did this not happen beforehand? Everyone knew he would not get better and in that circumstance I feel his suffering could have been less. I will still not take away what happened in end they were wonderful people xxxxx A4 Arne Ward Poole Hospital please let them have some recognition in how they cared for my dad xx main nurse was Katie and her team xx
