"Lots of questions at the hallamshire hospital, sheffield"

my wife recently had to attend the Hallamshire with internal stomach problems. her G.P sent her to emergency admissions unit at the hallamshire. The staff there were excellent and i am sure they were following hospital procedures but, on arrival, she was asked all sorts of questions, ie, date of birth, are you taking any medication, are you allergic to anything, what are your symptoms etc. all this info was written down.

after about half an hour, a doctor came to examine her and asked virtually all the same questions. after examination it was decided she should be taken to ward G1. Along came a nurse with another writing pad and again asked all the same questions. She said the doctor would be along later to talk to her.

after about 3 hours, along came the doctor and guess what, he had a writing pad in his hand and again started to ask all the same questions. at this point, i interupted and explained that these questions had already been asked 3 times.

in this age of modern technology, surely all this information could be stored on computer for all neccessary people to see. if this is not possible, i dont understand why the notes are not put in the patients file and passed from department to department with the patient.

apart from this, the treatment received could not have been better if she had gone private. our thanks to all the staff.

oh, and also, the visiting times are very inconvenient. i have to leave the hospital at 3.30pm, travel all the way home which took about 45mins, and them back again for 6pm. the last time she was in hospital, the visting times were 2pm to 8pm which were much better.
