"Awaiting Surgery"

Anything else?

My husband's first visit was in July last year. A diagnosis is a fistula which needs surgery. he had a pre-assessment in November and it was expected he would get an appointment in a month for the surgery but is still waiting for an appointment with the doctor. The discomfort of this problem is great and getting worse. Today I called only to find a problem with your phones!!! So was disconnected. Why is it taking so long? He originally went to the GP in May last year for this. (Mr SS Johl).

First I must apologise for the unusual delay in acknowledging your comment on NHS Choices website in April regarding your husband’s care. I do hope that there has been considerable progress since then. The wait you had endured already seemed unacceptable but clearly more so if you are still waiting. If this is the case, I do hope you will contact the PALs (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) department at Queen Mary’s for their help on 020 8308 5447 or by email slh-tr.qm-pals@nhs.net . They will also offer support should he/you decide to make a formal complaint about this episode of his care.
