"Woldside – A pleasure to be treated here."

About: Louth Community Hospital

Anything else?

On the 28th January 2013 my wife and I went for her monthly visit to Woldside at Louth Hospital to be given an infusion which she receives for her treatment for cancer.

On this occasion we mentioned to the Staff Nurse that my wife’s left leg was swollen and she suggested we visit A&E. My wife was reluctant to do so, as we had noticed that there were a lot of people in A&E when we arrived, obviously due to the icy conditions on that day. The nurse told me that they were going to have a word with a doctor while my wife was having her infusion. Within 20 minutes the doctor came to examine my wife's leg and told her they were going to arrange an ultrasound scan, as they doctor suspected it could be the result of a blood clot. Within one hour, she had the ultrasound which confirmed she had a blood clot and also been seen by another doctor who explained the condition to her and also instructed her on how to give herself the necessary injection each day to thin her blood.

I am sure that if we had not brought this to the Staff Nurse's attention and she had not acted so quickly the outcome could have become very serious and for this we give her our sincere thanks.

Well done NHS, the service she received was second to none.

It is always a pleasure attending Woldside each month, where all the staff are conscientious and very friendly, including the regular volunteers.
