"Great emergency treatment, poor after care."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Anything else?

My daughter received very good care after being rushed into the surgical assessment unit. In general, all staff were helpful except one nurse who tried to make me leave despite the fact that my daughter had severe concusssion and had no idea of where she was

Discharge was a nightmare and took over four hours, no discharge papers and not enough medication for the next day,

However, the follow up care has been unsatisfactory with the consultant denying he ever told me and my daughter some very specific information. This upset both my daughter and I greatly. We also felt that he did not actually ask us any information about my daughter's wellbeing especially when she told him that she still has massive memory loss. Highly insensitive.

I’m pleased to hear that in you felt your daughter had good care in the Surgical Assessment Unit. However, I was very concerned to hear about your experience, both the clinical issues you raised and also the comments from staff. I would be grateful if you would get in touch with me to tell me more about this, so we can look into them in more depth. Please could you make contact with our PALS team on 01708 435454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. Yours sincerely Dr Mike Gill Medical Director
