Anything else?
I was an NHS patient in The Chilterns. I drew comfort from the fact it was a private hospital but however I feel that the immediate aftercare was awful. I had a reaction to the anesthetic. I was ringing the bell (not excessively) as I was in pain from my Gallbladder removal and vomiting aswell as scared that this was not normal etc. The nurses were far from prompt and I was left with vomit over me and the table. The paper bowl I was given was used and insufficient. The said soiled table was not cleaned just wiped with tissues, and toast and drinks put on the same table, which I obviously could not touch. My one gown (in 24 hours) was not changed despite several requests. The buzzer was moved out of reach when the staff vacated the room so I could not use it. They had shut the door to the single room so I had to shout which is not my normal character nor did I have the energy. This was my first operation ever and to say I was scared was an understatement. I felt a complete inconvenience and nuisance. The surgeon himself was wonderful and professional in every way, as was the initial nurse who met me on arrival. Such a shame. I would not recommend BMI Chilterns at all. However, It may of been as I was an NHS patient which is wrong on so many levels. The situation has always been on my mind as so uncalled for and unnecessarily nasty.
