"A maternity ward what a disgrace!"

About: Good Hope Hospital

Anything else?

My whole experience of having my son was very traumatic for various reasons but once I was taken back to a ward on maternity it got worse. I had c-section so unable to move and in a lot of pain. I was refused my bed change because I could not get up (unable to get up because of amount of pain I was suffering), therefore had to sleep in blood soaked pads for the night. Pain relief was never on time for example I asked for pain relief at 21.00 hrs but never received it until 23.50 hrs reason given under staffed.

Some maternity care workers were rude, unhelpful and complained of being run off their feet because of lack of staff.

I was made very aware of the the need for post natal beds when I over heard both midwives and care workers talking about the fact that the delivery suite was backed up with post natal ladies who required beds on this ward hence why I was turfed out at 21.00 hrs. A formal complaint here we come!
