NOTHING!! my Mother is presently in this hospital awaiting surgery for a hip fracture she is 92 and has now been on a nil by mouth for over 48hrs she was prepared for surgery yesterday morning 27th sept, finally late last night it was understood she would not be having surgery and she had a cup of tea, this morning the process started again, nil by mouth, i was with her duing this afternoon when she was visited by the Anaesthetist, luckily i was able to answer her questions as my Mum is very confused, she did not seem to have any notes or knowledge about previous history, i arrived home at 6pm after being assured mum would be having her surgery this evening to find a message on my machine informing me the Surgeon had cancelled her surgery for today, after recent media attention about this hospitals treatment of the elderly i find this situation incredible, it has nothing to do with shortage of nurses or even money i have been left with the impression that Sugeons have little or no compassion and the elderly are assigned to the bottom of the list
