"Having read the leading front ..."

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Having read the leading front page article in the Western Morning News (19th October), I want to pass on to you my thoughts which, to put it mildly, are extremely angry.

The point that has made me at last put pen to paper, which I have meant to do in the past, is the fact that all these articles in the papers, and other media, never mention the medical staff, nursing staff, and all the ancillary staff such as housekeepers, porters etc.

All of these are unfailingly caring, efficient, work extremely hard, offer far more support to patients than their job demands, and generally do a superb job. What on earth can their morale be like when this type of journalism appears? It is not a job for the faint hearted by any means but this kind of publicity must be a real kick in the teeth for them.

I would take a pretty fair bet that I speak for a large proportion of the population of Cornwall when I say that Treliske Hospital is held in high regard by its patients and their families. I have trained and worked for a good few years in hospitals in the London area and further afield, and I would rate it as first class, in the area that matters - namely patient care.
